The 1990s girls

1990s girls research
There was a lot of different style trends in the 90s for woman. This mad this era very distinctive against others. It is quite well known for having brown/nude shades on the face. Inspiration from makeup at this time came to a lot more from TV and film than it did from any other media. Jennifer Aniston played a character called Rachel. Her style influenced a lot of teens throughout this era and this was very fashionable. Brown eye shadow was also in fashion at this time. However, if you wanted to be cool and different you could have looked at Gwen Stefani for inspiration as her style was different in the 90s using blue and purple eye shadow. Yet it still fit in and looked cool and trendy.
The desire to have her hair was what every teen wanted in the 1990s. Butterfly lips and trendy new hairstyles were in fashion as well and many teens can be seen wearing this in photos, music videos and tv and film.

Makeup plan
  1. Clean the face so makeup will apply better.
  2. Apply perfectly matched foundation to the face and neck. Making sure the ears are also covered.
  3. Add slightly lighter concealer under eyes to brighten them up.
  4. Apply powder all over the face. Apply thicker layer under eyes to catch eye shadows fall out.
  5. Next, contour the face, making the features stand out from the stage.
  6. Fill in eyebrows using brown eye shadow. Making sure not to change the shape in the trends of the 90s. Use 90s photos for reference.
  7. Apply brown shade eye shadows to the eyes, then apply mascara to the lashes to make them stand out.
  8. Penultimately, use a brown/nude lip liner to the lips and fill them in using a matching lipstick.
  9. lastly, I will do the hair by sectioning it into small pieces and twisting the upwards then tye them with a small hair elastic band in rainbow colours. I will then use small matching rainbow butterfly clips to the hair as they were very fashionable in the 90s.

Review
Overall, I think this makeup turned out really well and it is one of my favourites I have ever done. I think the hair and makeup clearly shows the time period well. the hair was created by sectioning it into small pieces, twisting it upwards and held down with a small, rainbow elastic band. I then used butterfly clips in the hair as these were in fashion a lot in the 90s with teenage girls.
For the makeup I used a lot of TV and music industry stars of the 1990s to create this makeup as that is what the actress told me her characters interests were. I used the Merhon stick foundation to cover this face as this works very well for stage. I then applied powder to the face as the face will become shiny and sweaty during the performance and this will prevent this happening a little bit.

I then contoured the face using a tilt contour palette. I think this went ok however, next time doing this makeup I would like to make the co tour darker as it didn't show up very well on stage. I added blush to the cheeks in a Corel colour as this is what was in fashion at this time period. I then applied brown eye shadows to the lids as brown tones were very in fashion during the 1990s with woman's makeup. I then applied a small amount of mascara to the eyes. I added the eyebrows on the face using eye shadow as this gave the brows a natural look which was also in fashion at this time. But yet it created a natural shape so it could be seen on stage.

lastly, I applied a lip liner and lipstick to the lips in a brown shade as this was popular at this time period. I underlined the lips when doing this as in the 1990s woman's lips fashion were for them to be quite small .

Overall I think this makeup went very well and showed the time period off well as it shows perfect examples of trends in the 1990s for woman.
